What Is the Cause of Premature Ejaculation?

Premature ejaculation is uncontrolled ejaculation before and after sexual penetration. However, that might happen even when masturbating. To most men, that can be very frustrating and embarrassing, especially if they have life partners. But you don’t have to be ashamed of such a condition. Premature ejaculation is more common than many may think. Instead, you should try to find out the causes to help you deal with the problem.

It is important to understand that there are two types of premature ejaculation. One of them is lifelong while the other is an acquired premature ejaculation. If you experience this problem since your first sexual encounter, then we term that as lifelong. On the other hand, an acquired premature ejaculation develops after several sex encounters. Typically, premature ejaculation is considered ejaculating within the first two minutes of sexual intercourse.

Let us look at some of the leading causes of premature ejaculation.

Psychological causes

According to research, past sexual experiences can affect how one performs sexually later in life. For example, if you were used to rushing ejaculation to avoid being caught, or if you were brought up in a community where sex is a taboo, then that cause premature ejaculation. Also, guilty feelings that cause you to rush ejaculation can be very detrimental to your sex life.

Anxiety

If you have anxiety either because you are afraid of disappointing your partner or just normal stress, the chances of prematurely ejaculating increase.

Relationship issues

If you had normal ejaculation in your previous relationships, but for some reason, in your current relationship you experience premature ejaculation, there are high chances that your relationship has a problem. Perhaps it could be caused by specific conflicts between partners or a man’s fear of the need to be perfect in bed.

Biological causes

Some biological factors lead to premature ejaculation. Some of them include inherited traits, thyroid problems, hormonal imbalance, inflammation of the urethra or the prostate, erectile dysfunction and brain chemicals imbalance among more. Lifelong premature ejaculation can be caused by neurological conditions often passed down from a relative.

Treatment for premature ejaculation typically involves both sexual partners and learning ways for the ejaculator to be in control of the timing of his ejaculations. It could also mean pharmacological treatments as well as non pharmacological solutions including behavioral training, physiotherapy and counseling.
